Joining NZIBS jump started my career - Darin Devanny

I became a registered building surveyor in 2003.  I had just started my building inspection business the year before.  There were major leaky building issues developing right at that time so I was pretty much Johnny on the spot and because the institute was at the forefront of the leaky building issues and providing specialist training and opportunities to become an accredited weathertightness assessor I decided to join the institute.

Being an accredited weathertightness assessor meant I could be an assessor for the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service (WHRS).  WHRS assessors were desperately needed at the time by the government to assess thousands of leaky buildings.

This opportunity jump started my career and my business. I quickly become established in complex site investigations and writing technical reports.

I am grateful to the NZIBS for this opportunity and plenty of others have been created by being a NZIBS member.
